APICULTURE ... Come out and learn about the basics of beekeeping - How to extract honey, build a super, check the health of your hive and More!
Members will have the opportunity to work hands-on with the hives and see what it takes to keep bees.

COMMUNICATION .... Get Your Message Across
Do you hate making a presentation? Do your knees shake when you have to talk in front of a group? Then you have Glossophobia - a fear of public speaking. This is the number one fear of people. Here is a club for you to overcome this fear and learn tips and tricks for successful presentations for school., 4-H and elsewhere. Learn how to do impromptu speeches, introduce and thank guest speakers, what to include in a thank you card and much more.
We will even practice writing in calligraphy!

GARDENING - Green Thumbs! - The Gardening Experience from Start to Finish.
Exploring the world of gardening - vegetable/flowers/herbs. We will be starting from scratch & creating a garden for vegetables. This will involve the laying out the design for the garden, picking the plants, turning the soil, starting plants from seed and then actually planting, tending, weeding and harvesting the fruits of our labours. We will also be looking at and growing flowers and herbs. We will talk about layouts of flower beds and the difference between sun loving and shade loving flowers. The possibility of a field trip to a retail green house will be looked a t.
This club will also involve planting the flower beds & caring for them around Bethel Hall.

POULTRY - Raising Day -old Chicks to Maturity
Raise your own chickens or ducks for eggs or meat! Learn how to do, by doing in this fun and productive club. Keep a journal with photos to record your progress. Leaders will help with ordering, picking up, delivery, etc.

QUILTING* (CRAFT) - is an exacting & precise craft, requiring patience, willingness to keep trying until you get it right & a keen sense to learn & take direction. Building on skills from previous quilting clubs; members will learn the proper, safe way of using a rotary cutters & reading/creating a pattern for their own quilt.
Members must have & know how to operate their own working sewing machine to bring to meetings! Have available to use & bring to meetings fabric scissors, pins, etc.

Friends or Guests are Welcome at a 4-H meeting - Please notify leaders at least 3 days in advance of bringing a friend who may be interested in joining 4-H that you will be bringing some one with you. Leaders need to be prepared - assess risk/safety factors, have enough materials/supplies or even snacks.
Please note a the interested person may only attend one 4-H meeting in a year.
